Subject: POTENTIAL SECURITY INCIDENT: SP52948 pathway to bus stop on 2Mar2019
Date: 2/3/19, 7:46 am

Hi,

As around 07:00 hours on 2 March 2019 daughter from Lot 158 was walking towards bus stop.

While walking on the footpath near the small exit from the complex she was approached by middle-aged person with darker complexity who walked through the garden and was sitting on a bench. As she walked by (still on SP52948 common property), he uttered words "Excuse me...".

The daughter was rushing to catch a bus but she stopped for a moment, in belief that he was maintenance staff .

He asked for her unit number. She replied with polite suggestion to contact caretaker.

He then repeated the question: what was her unit number.

He appeared to carry some device for gas reading.

Instead of being satisfied with the answer, the person tried to further engage in talk with the daughter. She persistently told him several times to contact caretaker.

The daughter made a firm reply that her unit number was none of his business and that her unit had already collected information for gas reading. As the bus was approaching, she excused herself stating that she would be late and had to leave immediately.

Request for investigation and a response:

a) Has any CCTV recorded event with the person walking around the complex (and near pathway to bus stop) at around 07:00 hours today? It is a duty of building manager, on behalf of owners corporation, to immediately investigate it and preserve video evidence until full verification is completed.

That same spot, the pathway to bus stop, was a location of an attempted rape many years ago and it was one of the reasons why CCTV was put on a pole nearby.

b) Waratah Strata Management is asked to provide an answer why the person, who allegedly is supposed to collect gas reading data, started work at around 07:00 hours without supervision of maintenance staff?

c) The privacy and peace of owners and tenants would be disturbed by any work before 08:00 hours, as notices in elevators clearly show that Jemena would do it between hours of 08:00 and 13:00.

Based on documented security incidents in the complex, affecting especially Lot 158, please take this very seriously.

Regards,
